Hope Scholarships and GrantsThe Georgia H.O.P.E. Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally) program will pay for your tuition costs, while you are enrolled in a diploma or certificate of credit program, at a Georgia state technical college. HOPE is a program sponsored by the Governor's Office and is financed by lottery funds. Every student (especially Georgia residents) enrolled in a degree or diploma program should fill out a Federal Pell Grant Application in the Financial Aid Office. This program will pay for 100% of the tuition costs for active military and dependents who are Georgia residents. General EligibilityEvery student who is enrolled in a diploma or certificate program, who has been a legal resident of Georgia at least twelve months immediately preceding the registration date of the quarter for which assistance is being sought and meets all eligibility requirements, will be eligible for HOPE tuition, activity, registration fees, and books ($100 for 6 or more credit hours and $50 for 5 credit hours or less each quarter). Eligible students enrolled in certificate programs complete a HOPE alternate application only. Active military and their dependents are eligible for the HOPE Grant if they meet all other requirements. The twelve month Georgia legal residence does not apply to active military and their dependents. However, active duty personnel must live in Georgia. Only students who graduated from a high school in Georgia beginning with the class of 1993, with a 3.0 cumulative GPA, will be eligible for HOPE if they are seeking an associate degree at Columbus Technical College. Students who graduated from high school prior to 1993 and students who graduated 1993 or later without an overall 3.0 GPA maybe eligible for HOPE if they are enrolled in an associate degree program at Columbus Technical College and have completed 45 degree hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Hope GrantNon-traditional students and General Education Development (GED) recipients as well as recent high school graduates are eligible to receive a HOPE Grant to cover tuition, HOPE approved mandatory fees, and a book allowance to seek a diploma or certificate at a public post secondary institution in Georgia if they meet the eligibility requirements.
