College Librarian Gloria Battle to be Featured in Local Media

One of the Columbus Technical College librarians, Mrs. Gloria Lowe Battle, will be in the media spotlight this Monday, January 21, 2008. Ms. Battle is scheduled to appear as a guest on WTVM’s (Channel 9) 6:00 p.m. newscast, speaking about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his fight for equality. Ms. Battle will talk of her personal experiences fighting the Civil Rights battle alongside Dr. and Mrs. King.

Gloria Battle is a native of Hatchechubbee, Alabama and has been an educator since 1957. Her career began in the classroom and eventually moved to the library. Mrs. Battle was the first African-American branch manager at the South Columbus Branch Library.
