GOAL Finalists

The four finalists will go through a series of interviews and evaluations by a selection committee of representatives from area business and industry. They will also make presentations at a banquet in their honor on April 10, 2007 at Green Island Country Club. The Columbus Technical College winner will be announced at that time. He or she will compete at the state level May 22-25. Besides the bragging rights earned, the state-wide winner receives a GOAL medallion and a new car!

GOAL is celebrating its 36th year. It is a state-wide competition started by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE). The competition is held among students from Georgia’s 39 technical colleges and it recognizes outstanding achievement, character, and leadership. Students are nominated for this prestigious award by their instructors.

Dr. Edith Thompson is the GOAL coordinator for Columbus Technical College. She says, "The purpose of the GOAL program is to spotlight the importance of technical education in today’s world of work and to recognize outstanding achievement by students in Georgia’s technical colleges."
