Dual Enrollment Academy a Huge Success

The first Dual Enrollment Academy Night at Columbus Technical College on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 was a huge success. A total of 122 high school students registered for the event. Many of them expressed interest in enrolling at Columbus Technical College for their postsecondary educational needs. After presentations from school officials and representatives from area businesses, (Aflac, Kodak, Columbus Regional and St. Francis) a question and answer session, and refreshments, students were treated to a tour of the campus.

Columbus Technical College even sponsored a pizza party contest among the participating schools. Jordan High School was the winner with 23 students registered. Shaw High School was a close second, with 22 students registered.

Dual Enrollment gives young people the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. The program is offered in technical colleges across Georgia and tuition is covered by the HOPE scholarship.
