Columbus Technical College is proud to announce senior superior court judge for Muscogee County, Hon. John D. Allen, will address a crowd of about 1,600 at the Trade Center ballroom for the college’s graduation ceremony. Commencement exercises will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011. More than 600 CTC students have met the qualifications for graduation.
Judge Allen was born and raised in Columbus. He hung his law shingle out in Columbus in the 1970’s and is the former city attorney for Geneva, Georgia. He served as a Columbus Recorder’s Court judge and in 1987 he became a state court judge. In 1993, he was appointed to the bench of the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Superior Court where he continues to serve today.
Allen has also served as a member of the Columbus Airport Commission, the Columbus High School Vocational Education Advisory Board, the Urban League Board of Directors, the Area Ten Special Olympics Advisory Board and the African American Historic Preservation Society. He and his wife Victoria have three sons; each is a college graduate.
