CTC Dean of Library Services Honored

April 12, 2012: The Columbus Area Library Association (CALA) has named Columbus Technical College Dean of Library Services, Stephanie Middleton, as this year’s LIBRA Award winner. Middleton took center stage on April 12 at an awards presentation in her honor in the Columbus Technical College Library rotunda. The award is a way to acknowledge people who have had a substantial impact on libraries, reading, and literacy in our community. The winner is chosen though a peer voting process and must be someone who is either considered a friend of the library and library system or someone who works in the library environment.

During the ceremony, which was attended by CTC peers, library employees from across the county, and special guests, Middleton acknowledged her support system. This included the Columbus Technical College administration, her co-workers, friends, mentors, and especially her family. Her parents made the trek from Lake Oconee to attend the ceremony.

“Thanks to President Bob Jones who manages by means of collaboration, empowerment, and respect and also to my parents who instilled my values and love of education,” Middleton said.

Following the presentation, a reception was held in Middleton’s honor.
