First Back 2 School BASH a Huge Success!

August 16, 2012   The Robert L. Wright, Jr. Health Sciences Center at Columbus Technical College was the place to be on August 9th. The first Back 2 School BASH hosted by the college drew a huge crowd of potential students, friends, families, and kids of all ages. An estimated 400 people attended the event.

It was a packed house at the first Back 2 School BASH at Columbus Technical College. An estimated 400 people attended the event.

Kids of all ages enjoyed playing “corn hole.” Special thanks to the carpentry/cabinetmaking instructors and students for making this customized game!

It featured food, games, rides, prizes, and services by Columbus Tech students — all for free! Besides the fun and frivolity, this was also an easy one-stop opportunity for interested students to apply and register for fall semester classes.

Columbus Tech nursing students provided free health services that included blood pressure screenings.

Esthetics students provided free mini-facials at the Back 2 School BASH. Fellow cosmetology students also offered up free haircuts for men and mini-manicures for women.

Vice President of Student Affairs, Tara Askew, was thrilled with the turn-out.

“We had 163 people attend our orientation and assisted about 45 students with financial aid issues,” Askew said. “It was a great opportunity for the college to reach out to the community. We hope to do many more events like this in the future.”

Fall classes start August 21st.
