Vice President of Economic Development - FT Columbus Technical College is accepting application for a Vice President of Economic Development Services. Available July 1, 2008, Responsibilities and Requirements: The Vice President of Economic Development is responsible for providing, under the leadership of the President, all of the administrative and supervisory functions of Columbus Technical College’s Economic Development Services Division. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to marketing customized/contract training, business and industry needs assessments, continuing education, certification of tax credits for retraining, certified customer service specialist and certified manufacturing specialist programs, Quick Start projects, and the development and implementation of other performance-based education and training programs as may be necessary for the enhancement of workforce development in the region. The Vice President of Economic Development must also work closely with the local, regional, and state economic developers to assist in the recruitment of new business and industry, as well as the expansion of existing industry. In this role the Vice President must demonstrate an effective grasp of economic development and business issues, and be a strong team player. The Vice President must exhibit an executive presence and demonstrate the ability to command the respect of top business and government officials. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The Vice President of Economic Development must be able to effectively use marketing and public relations tools in the advancement of the economic development division. Additionally the Vice President must be well versed in the use of computer technology. Additional Requirements: Occupational Experience: Must have at least five years of full-time, paid experience within the past seven years in a business, educational, or military environment. Must demonstrate skills in conducting training needs assessment, developing training programs, marketing, program management, budgeting, and personnel supervision. Successful management of a business unit is highly desirable. Educational Requirements Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, engineering, vocational education, or a closely related field. An advanced degree in business administration or a related field is desirable. Must hold or be willing to obtain Certified Economic Developer Trainer (CEDT) designation. Salary and Terms of Employment: Salary is negotiable based on education and experience. Employment is on an annual contract based on college’s fiscal year.
