Faculty Services

We strive to provide services to support faculty and staff. This page makes it easier for faculty or staff to send a request to the Library.

Library Orientation

This class is to provide your students an introduction to Library resources as well as a guide to online research. Students will learn about in house Library resources such as books and journals. Students will be instructed on how to use online resources, including databases within GALILEO to discover better resources for their assignments. Librarians can customize to your particular assignment, subjects, reference format, and preferred databases with proper notification. Orientations are typically last about one hour and are primarily taught on the second floor of the Library in lab L702. Your class may stay in the lab for the duration of course period if desired. If taking your students to the Library is not possible, we will be happy to come to your classroom to instruct your students provided your class room has the proper facilities. This method requires a computer and a projected display of the screen. Orientations are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. We cannot guarantee the availability of your preferred time and date. A Librarian will contact you to confirm your orientation or to reschedule one based on a time that works for both parties.

Request for the Library to Purchase Materials

The Library is willing to purchase materials for faculty or staff to add to the Library’s collection. Materials being considered for purchase must meet several standards before they can be approved. Some of the things considered include our collection development policy and possibly the cost of the item(s) in question. A submitted request does not guarantee your material will be purchased. A librarian will contact you regarding your request as soon as possible.

Please provide as much information as possible. Bibliographic information or in-print status for books is available online from WorldCAT, which faculty, staff, and students may also access via GALILEO.
