HIT 204 – Comparative Records for Health Information Management - This course introduces students to health information management in a wide variety of settings. Students will examine regulatory issues; documentation; reimbursement; quality improvement and utilization management; and risk management and legal issues in each of these settings. Topics include: hospital-based ambulatory care, freestanding ambulatory care, managed care, dialysis, correctional facilities, dental care settings, veterinary settings, substance abuse, facilities for mentally challenged, mental health, long-term care, sub-acute care, home health care, hospice, rehabilitation, and consulting. Prerequisite: HIT 206
