RTT 112 - Introduction to Respiratory Therapy - RTT 112 provides students with the principles of chemistry and physics as they apply to respiratory therapy and basic respiratory therapy procedures. Students examine specific modes of respiratory care to develop an understanding of the principles of application to patients, indications, hazards, contraindications, and evaluation of therapy. Modes of care include medical gases, humidity/aerosol therapy, positive pressure breathing, incentive spirometry, expiratory resistances, postural drainage, percussion/vibration, and medical ethics. This course also examines respiratory therapy equipment utilized in performing basic therapeutic modalities. Prerequisites: Program admission, BIO 193, BIO 194, BIO 197, CHM 191, MAT 191, PHY 190; Corequisites: RTT 113, RTT 193
