Certified Personal Trainer

The Certified Personal Trainer Certificate program is designed to provide the graduate with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to engage in the practice of personal training inĀ  a variety of settings. This program provides a sound foundation for those students who plan to further their education in sports medicine, sports and fitness management, exercise physiology physical therapy assistant, athletic training and more!

The goals and objective of this program are guided by, but not limited to, the criteria and guidelines set forth by the American Council on Exercise. Upon graduation of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the national certified personal trainer exam from the American Council on Exercise.

Length of program

A minimum of 21 semester hours is required for graduation. A full time (program ready) student can expect to complete the program in two semesters. *ACE-CEU’S available for SFMA 1210/ 1220 for those who are ACE certified.

Employment Opportunities

A graduate of this certificate program (with certification ) may find employment as a certified peronal trainer in a corporate healthcar, public fitness facility or as an independent contractor.

Admissions Requirements

Age: Applicats must be 18 years or older (Must by 18 years old to sit for the ACE certification exam)

Education: A high school diploma/ GED is required for admissions

Program Acceptance/ Placement: Applicat must achieve program ready or provisional scores on the placement exam (or submit acceptable SAT/ ACT scores). Applicants who do not attain the minimum scores may take refresher/ remedial instruction in order to meet admissions requirements.
