Quick Start

Quick Start is a State of Georgia incentive designed to attract new industries and motivate existing industries to expand their operations in Georgia. It is a partnership that consists of three parties: the company, Columbus Technical College, and Georgia Quick Start. The program provides training for all types of companies such as manufacturers, warehouse and distribution centers, national and international corporate headquarters, information technology based companies, and customer service operations. It includes both pre-employment and post-employment training.

All of the training is custom-designed to meet the specific needs of each company. It is delivered at the company location, Columbus Technical College, or at a location provided by Quick Start depending on the specific needs of the company, and it is scheduled to meet the start-up or expanding needs of each business as they occur. Quick Start training is designed to produce the knowledge and skill sets required of entry level employees. The training is usually divided into six segments which includes a company orientation, core skills, job-specific skills, productivity enhancement, the skills required to manage and work in a team environment, and human resource training development knowledge and skills.

Quick Start services are provided at no cost to the company for those that are eligible for the services. Eligibility is based on such factors as capital investment, impact on the local economy, number of new employees, employee wage rate, community involvement, and level of planned technology.

Upon completion of the Quick Start project, Columbus Technical College will service the long-term training needs of the company. These needs are met through customized training and public workshops competitively priced and through the numerous diploma, degree, and certificate programs routinely offered whose tuition and fees are paid with HOPE Scholarship and HOPE Grant funds for Georgia residents.
