Young 'Mathletes' Compete at Columbus Technical College

Updated February 11, 2008 -The 3rd annual MATHCOUNTS competition at Columbus Technical College was a huge success! Ninety-three middle school students from 12 Muscogee schools competed for trophies, graphing calculators and most of all, bragging rights. Blackmon Road Middle School was the big winner; the team placed first overall. Three of the top four individuals were from Blackmon. Congratulations to all who participated and who worked hard to make this event a success.

For the third consecutive year, Columbus Technical College played host to area middle schoolers in a spirited math competition. On February 9th, students from 12 Muscogee and Harris County middle schools put their arithmetic acumen to the test during MATHCOUNTS.

The program at Columbus Technical College has been organized by the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers. The Columbus, Georgia chapter of Mensa also provided volunteers for the event.
