XLR8 Programs Featured at Academy Night

October 30, 2008 - The bi-annual Academy Night event is being touted as a huge success as parents and students from across the Columbus Technical College service area came to campus Wednesday. About 60 students plus their parents attended the event to learn about the college’s XLR8 programs: Dual Enrollment, Joint Enrollment and Accel. While here, students were able to apply for college and even take the COMPASS entry exam. Any high school student who attended will be able to waive his or her application fee as long as the application process and entrance exams have been completed and submitted to Columbus Technical College by November 13, 2008.

Each student received a free gift for attending and some were lucky enough to have their names drawn for door prizes which included notebooks, pens, coffee mugs and certificates for services at Columbus Technical College like manicures/pedicures and oil changes. There was even a giveaway for two free computer classes through the Columbus Technical College Economic Development Division. Representatives from partnering businesses including Aflac, CB&T and Columbus Regional were on hand to distribute materials and answer questions. The XLR8 Academy Night is held twice a year, in the Spring and the Fall, to coordinate with high school students' busy schedules.
