TCSG Commissioner to Attend 'Beam Signing' Ceremony; Speak at Rotary

August 17, 2009: Commissioner Ron Jackson of the Technical College System of Georgia will be in Columbus this week to address Rotarians on Wednesday and attend a special ceremony at Columbus Technical College on Thursday. Commissioner Jackson will be the featured speaker at the Rotary Club of Columbus meeting Wednesday at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. On Thursday, after attending a joint meeting of the Columbus Technical College Foundation Board and Local Board, Mr. Jackson will join trustees for a "beam signing" ceremony at CTC starting at approximately 12:45 p.m.

The trustees and other guests will meet at an observation platform on the west side of the Patrick Hall building on the Columbus Technical College campus for the signing. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Patrick Hall lobby. The signed beam will later be used for a topping out ceremony at the college's health sciences center, currently under construction.

Following the beam signing, weather permitting, all guests and participating media have been invited to tour the construction site on River Road.
