CTC Sees Double-Digit Increase in Fall Quarter Enrollment

October 13, 2009:  Columbus Technical College's fall quarter credit enrollment surged over the 4,000 mark today with a 10% increase over the same quarter last year! This fall quarter 7-day credit enrollment figure of 4,085 students will likely go up even more when the final figures are released at the end of the quarter. It's very possible that by that time, the college will beat its all-time enrollment record of just over 4,100 students.

"This is a healthy increase over last year and represents awareness on the part of students that skills are necessary to acquire and maintain a good job and to build a career," said Columbus Technical College President J. Robert "Bob" Jones. "It is also a very manageable number for the college in terms of our ability to provide resources to these students at a time when state revenues are down and funding is being cut."

With the job market being uncertain and the unemployment rate reaching record highs, many people feel this is the perfect time to reevaluate their current job path and/or start training for a new career. With assistance through programs like Georgia's HOPE scholarship, the Federal Pell Grant and low tuition ($40/credit hour for most classes), a technical education is exceedingly affordable.

Jones reports Columbus Technical College's enrollment in credit programs has increased some 160% over the last dozen years.
