CTC Employees, Students Receive H1N1 Vaccines

As part of a proactive approach in keeping healthy this flu season, Columbus Technical College partnered with the Columbus Health Department to provide H1N1 vaccines for students and employees. Health Department officials were stationed at the Patrick Hall Student Center from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3rd. About 200 people received the nasal spray vaccine. More than a dozen students from the college's nursing program were on hand to help distribute them. The vaccination day is part of a pandemic plan established by the college.

H1N1 Vaccine
Columbus Technical College Director of Communications, Cheryl Myers, was among 200 or so who received the H1N1 nasal vaccine at Columbus Technical College. Administering the vaccine is senior nursing student, Kathy Crutchfield.

For those with state-provided insurance (United Healthcare, CIGNA, Tricare, Medicare or Medicaid), the Columbus Health Department filed with the provider. Uninsured employees or students were not charged for this service! Anyone with the college wishing to receive a vaccine had to show a valid student or employee ID and those with insurance showed proof. Several local media outlets were on hand to cover the vaccination story. Visit wtvm's site or wltz's website for examples.
