Ceremony at CTC Sees 44 Inductees for Honor Society Chapter

December 3, 2009: A ceremony at Columbus Technical College on Thursday saw the school's chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) welcome 44 inductees to its organization. Being inducted into the NTHS at Columbus Technical College is a great honor. Students must have an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher, have completed 40 quarter hours and have an instructor's recommendation.

Columbus civic leader and Realtor, Melissa Thomas, was the keynote speaker at the induction ceremony. She compared the recognition by NTHS as the opening of a door and said, "what you do when that door is opened is up to you." She challenged the inductees to give back to their community and serve others.

Melissa talked about her own experience battling breast cancer and how she turned that fight into a positive for thousands of women by starting an annual breast cancer awareness luncheon with Columbus Regional Healthcare System. Today, funds from that event help women pay for their insurance needs and other expenses when they're fighting breast cancer.
