Culinary Nutrition Assistant

The Culinary Nutrition Assistant certificate program equips individuals for employment in the culinary profession as food service assistants in settings such as school cafeterias, hospitals, nursing homes or other operations of quantity food production. The program includes theory and practical application necessary for successful employment, including basic sanitation and safety skills, basic cooking and prep skills, and employment skills.

Admission

Entrance Date: Core courses: Quarterly; Occupationally specific courses: Fall and spring quarters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Test Scores - ASSET: Writing 35, COMPASS - Writing 23 - Asset: Reading 38, Compass: Reading 70 - Asset: Math 35, Compass: Math 26
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Attainment of 16 years of age
  • Provision of a health certificate documenting adequate health including the ability to lift 50 pounds, to do prolonged standing and to tolerate heat
  • Documentation of a negative tuberculosis skin test or chest X-ray
