Nail Technician Certificate

The Nail Technician program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the field of Nail Technician. Learning opportunities develop academic and professional knowledge, and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized training in safety, sanitation, state laws, rules and regulations, nail diseases and disorders, skin and nail care, and work ethics. The curriculum meets state licensing requirements of the State Board of Cosmetology. Program graduates receive a Nail Technician certificate and are employable as Nail Technicians.

Career and Occupational Outlook

Three out of every four salons are looking for nail technicians. Podiatrists are always looking for nail technicians to assist them in the medical setting.

Personal Traits Required:

Personal traits for a nail technician are the same as for cosmetologist. The individual must be motivated, a people person, creative, able to work independently, and as with any profession, should be willing to begin in an entry level position. Appearance, punctuality, and professional attitude are only a few of the personal traits required to be successful in this profession.

Advisor:

An advisor should be consulted prior to enrolling in any course. A program advisor will be assigned by Department.

Admission Requirements

Present official documentation of a high school diploma or GED scores
Age 16 years of age or older
Meet minimum test scores or present an official transcript documenting college level English and mathematics courses with at least a "C" grade in each
Complete program conference sheet with advisor prior to admission
Present official documentation of a recent TB test result
