COMPASS Placement Test

All students entering college credit programs are required to take a placement test before admission. Test results are used to place students in the proper courses. Most certification programs, and all diploma and degree programs require the COMPASS (COMPuterized ASSET) placement test or comparable SAT/ACT scores.

Applicants holding current SAT/ACT scores or transfer students should have transcripts from previous colleges evaluated to determine whether they will be required to take the COMPASS placement test.

Arrangements for students with disabilities who need special testing conditions can be made by contacting the testing coordinator at 706.649.1817.

To schedule COMPASS testing or COMPASS test preparation, call 706-649-1817.

Testing sessions are available several times during the week and at least one Saturday morning per month. Students are encouraged to schedule and test early in the quarter prior to the quarter they wish to be admitted.

For more information on scheduling your COMPASS test, or the format of the test, please review the COMPASS Frequently-Asked Questions. For more information about all the services provided by Testing Services, please visit the Testing Services home page.

The policy of Columbus Technical College is to allow one retesting opportunity per test section of COMPASS per quarter. A retest can occur seven or more days after an initial test. There is a minimum waiting period of seven days between an initial test and a retest. The retest fee is $10 per test section. For more information, please call the Admissions Office at 706.649.1817.
