- What is TEAS?
- TEAS is short for "Test of Essential Academic Skills." TEAS is a 4-part (paper-and-pencil or web-based) supervised assessment developed by Assessment Technologies Institute™ LLC that consists of subtests in Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English.
- Why do I need to take the TEAS test?
- Columbus Technical College has made the TEAS test results part of the competitive admission requirements for the Practical Nursing Program for all students competing for acceptance beginning with the Summer 2008 quarter.
- What testing areas are included in the TEAS test?
- TEAS is a 4-part assessment developed by Assessment Technologies Institute™ LLC consisting of subtests in Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English with 170 total questions. The numbers of questions in each subtest area are as follows:
- Reading - 40 Questions
- Mathematics - 45 Questions
- Science - 30 Questions
- English and Language Usage - 55 Questions
- How long does the test take?
- The TEAS test is a timed test. The total testing time for all four test areas is 3 hours and 29 minutes. Most subtests are timed to average 75 seconds per item. Including the test on-site registration, the test instructions, and tutorial, please allow at least 4 hours for your test session. The amount of time allotted for each subtest is as follows:
- Reading - 50 Minutes
- Mathematics - 56 Minutes
- Science - 38 Minutes
- English and Language Usage - 65 Minutes
- How do I register for the TEAS test?

be used for payment.
- How many times can I take the TEAS test?
- You may take the TEAS exam once per quarter at Columbus Technical College.
- How do I register to retake the TEAS test?
- Please call 706-649-1817 to schedule a TEAS retest.
- How much does the TEAS test cost and when do I have to pay the testing fee?
- The TEAS test fee is $45. The fee must be paid prior to or at the
same time of scheduling a test date.
- What should I bring to take the test?
- You should plan to arrive 1/2 hour prior to testing time to allow for check in. You must bring a picture ID, your social security number and two (2) #2 pencils.
- How late can I wait to register to take the TEAS test?
- You can register for one of the available test dates as long as there are seats available for that test date. Be aware that there are a limited number of seats available on each test date, so it is important to pick a test date and register before all the available seats are taken.
- I missed the test date I registered for. How I do get a refund?
- If you do not show on the date of the exam you will forfeit your registration fee. Your registration date will not be rescheduled or refunded once we are 10 days away from the testing date.
- How do I get my TEAS test results?
- We offer the web-based version of the test at Columbus Technical College. Your individual student report is available after you complete your test via the internet through Assessment Technologies Institute™ LLC at www.atitesting.com. After you leave the testing lab, you can go to your computer and access your test results through the www.aittesting.com website.
- How do I interpret my scores?
- See web site and or see your Healthcare advisor.
- Can I re-test if I want to improve my score?
- Yes, you can pay for and schedule a re-test once per quarter.
- How much does it cost to re-test?
- Re-test fees are the same as the initial test cost, regardless of
how many times you re-test. Your scores will be monitored by Columbus
Technical College and you must use the same user ID and password you
used for the first test.
- Are test preparation materials available?
- Test preparation materials, including study guides and practice tests, are available to be purchased from Assessment Technologies Institute™ LLC. You can find out more by visiting their web address www.atitesting.com.
- What if I live outside of the State or regional area and cannot make it to one of the TEAS test dates identified?
- Please visit the website, www.atitesting.com, for information regarding other test centers. Please discuss with your Healthcare advisor before scheduling at another site.
- What if I have taken the TEAS Test at another testing location and want my results to be forwarded to Columbus Technical College?
- You will need to go to www.atitesting.com and log in with your user information. Then you will need to go to the Online Store and purchase the "TEAS Results Fee." You will need to select "Columbus Technical College TEAS" as the recipient and pay an additional $20 fee to ATI. The results will be emailed to our school.
- Who do I contact if I have other questions about the administration of the TEAS test?
- You may contact your academic
advisor with questions regarding the test. You may call the
Columbus Technical College Testing Center, 706-649-1817, to pay for
and schedule your test.
