Welcome to Virtual Learning

Columbus Technical College strives to integrate technology into all aspects of a student's learning experience. In that way, our graduates will have the technical skills to be a valued member of the workforce, and will set themselves on the path of lifelong learning.

Virtual Learning is the employment of information and communication technologies to deliver instruction. Virtual learning is a term frequently used interchangeably with distance learning, online learning, e-learning, or Web-based learning. The use of virtual learning at the College falls into three course types: online/web-based, hybrid, and web-enhanced.

online classes hybrid classes web enhanced classes

Online/Web-based courses are taught using the internet. The bulk of course content and activities are online. May require on-site proctored tests or other components.

Hybrid courses are taught partially online, and partially in a classroom. They are not assigned to a classroom for every contact hour listed in the syllabus.

Web-enhanced courses have traditional classroom- based instruction. Classes use the internet as an important component of the course.

Columbus Technical College uses virtual learning to support both our collegiate academic programs, and our Community Education programs. Students' virtual learning options range from complete two-year degree programs to short-term professional/personal development courses.
