Foundation Earns Role Model Status

Demonstrating their commitment to Columbus Technical College and its mission of building an educated workforce, the College’s Foundation Board of Trustees has earned a coveted distinction.

During its recent Leadership Conference, Georgia’s Technical College Foundation Association (TCFA) announced Columbus Technical College Foundation, Inc. was one of only nine technical college foundations out of a possible 22 to receive the prestigious designation of “Role Model Board.” Role Model Board is presented to foundations that demonstrate outstanding business practices and the highest level of commitment to their college.

Foundation Chair Cedric Hill said this of the honor: “I am impressed with the commitment of our trustees to meet the designation of Role Model Board. In order to earn this honor, the entire board must commit and work hard. Thanks go out to all of our board members”.

October 4, 2016: Columbus Technical College Foundation Board Chairman Cedric Hill shows off the 2016 Role Model Board award. Looking on are (l to r) Director of Institutional Advancement David Fletcher, recently-retired Executive Director of the Foundation Gloria Johnson, TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin, Vice Chair Jane Seckinger, and College President Lorette M. Hoover.

To earn the award, foundation trustees must adhere to the highest standard of legal and financial practices. Every member must accomplish a minimum of three specific benchmarks set by the TCFA. Some of the goals include: participating in advanced training or professional development, attending or observing a class at the College, attending a graduation or other College special event, attending at least 80 percent of foundation board meetings, and supporting the foundation’s donor relations efforts.

The Foundation must also maintain a certain level of financial support as well as have completed detailed annual financial audits and/or reviews.
