Scholarship Information & Application Instructions

The Columbus Technical College Foundation (CTCF) provides scholarship opportunities to help eligible students with the cost of their education. Scholarships are made possible through the generosity of donors and are awarded based on available funding and specific donor criteria.

When Can I Apply?

Scholarship applications are typically accepted during four application periods each academic year—twice during the fall semester, once during the spring semester, and once during the summer semester.

Individual scholarships are generally open for applications once per year, provided funds are available. Scholarships are rotated throughout the year, with different opportunities offered during each application period.

Early fall typically offers the largest number of available scholarships.

Every academic program or major has an opportunity for scholarship consideration during the year; however, not every scholarship is available every semester. Because each scholarship has specific eligibility requirements, there may be an application period when you do not qualify for an available scholarship. Students are encouraged to check during each application period.

How Much Are Scholarships?

Most CTC Foundation scholarships are awarded in amounts of $500 or $1,000.

Scholarship funds are generally:

  • Applied directly to the student’s account through the Business Office
  • Used toward tuition and fees
  • In some cases, available for other required educational expenses, depending on the donor’s requirements

Foundation scholarships are not cash awards. Scholarship funds must be used for the educational expenses permitted under the terms established by the donor.

How Will I Know When Applications Open?

Scholarship application dates are announced through several College communication channels, including:

  • Social media
  • Campus signage
  • Student text messages

Watch for these announcements throughout the academic year so you don’t miss an application period

How Do I Apply?

Columbus Technical College Foundation uses AwardSpring, an online scholarship management system that is connected to Banner.

When the scholarship application portal is open:

  1. Log in to Okta using your Columbus Technical College student credentials]\
  2. Locate the AwardSpring tile in your Okta portal and select it.
  3. Complete the required general application.
  4. Based on your information and eligibility, AwardSpring will identify scholarship opportunities for which you may qualify.
  5. Complete the additional application requirements for each scholarship opportunity that appears for you.

Be sure to complete all required information and submit your application by the published deadline.

What Will I Need to Apply?

Scholarship requirements vary based on criteria established by individual donors. Most CTC Foundation scholarships require students to have an institutional GPA

Depending on the scholarship, you may also be asked to provide:

  • An essay or written response
  • A letter of recommendation
  • Other information or documentation required by the donor

Required documents are uploaded electronically through the AwardSpring portal

Scholarship Application Review

Each completed scholarship application is reviewed and scored by a volunteer reviewer using an established scoring rubric. Applicants should carefully review all instructions and provide thoughtful, complete, and original responses

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The use of generative AI to write scholarship essays is strongly discouraged. Scholarship reviewers want to hear your authentic voice, experiences, goals, thoughts, and perspective.

Students are responsible for ensuring that submitted essays represent their own work. An essay determined by reviewers to have been entirely generated by AI will receive zero points for the essay portion of the application.

All scholarship selections are based on the established review process, available funding, donor criteria, and application scores. The decisions of the scholarship reviewers are final.
