Columbus Technical College ​has​ ​earned​ ​the​ ​2017-2018 Military​​ ​​Friendly​®​​ ​School​ ​designation.​ This is the 5th year in a row the College has been honored with this distinction.

Columbus Technical College announced​ ​today​ ​that​ ​it​ ​has​ ​earned​ ​the​ ​2017-2018 Military​​ ​​Friendly​®​​ ​School​ ​designation.​ This is the 5th year in a row the College has been honored with this distinction. During the last fiscal year, Columbus Technical College served 911 students through VA benefits. That’s about 20 percent of the entire student population.

“The commitment to our student veterans, their dependents, and military retirees is second-to-none,” said Columbus Technical College President Lorette Hoover. “We strive to make sure all their needs are met from help with admissions to navigating financial aid options to a special lounge and computer lab dedicated for these students. With Fort Benning in our backyard, the College does everything in its power to serve this vital population.”

​Military​ ​Friendly​®​​ ​Schools​ ​is a comprehensive,​ ​powerful​​ resource​ ​for​ ​veterans.​ ​Each​ ​year,​ ​the​ ​list​ ​of​ ​Military​ ​Friendly​®​​ ​Schools is​ ​provided​ ​to​ ​service​ ​members​ ​and​ ​their​ ​families,​ ​helping​ ​them​ ​select​ ​the​ ​best​ ​​university,​community college or technical college​ ​to​ ​receive​ ​the​ ​education​ ​and​ ​training​ ​needed​ ​to​ ​pursue​ ​a​ ​civilian​ ​career.

Institutions​ ​earning​ ​the​ ​Military​ ​Friendly​®​​ ​School​ ​designation​ ​were​ ​evaluated​ ​using​ ​​public​ ​data sources​ ​and​ ​responses​ ​from​ ​Victory​ ​Media’s​ ​proprietary​ ​survey.​ ​For​ ​the​ ​first​ ​time,​ ​student​ ​survey data​ ​was​ ​taken​ ​into​ ​consideration​ ​for​ ​the​ ​designation.​

​Final​ ​ratings​ ​were​ ​determined​ ​by​ ​combining​ ​the​ ​institution’s​ ​survey​ ​scores with​ ​the​ ​assessment​ ​of​ ​the​ ​institution’s​ ​ability​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​thresholds​ ​for​ ​Student​ ​Retention,​ ​Graduation, Job​ ​Placement,​ ​Loan​ ​Repayment,​ ​Persistence​ ​(Degree​ ​Advancement​ ​or​ ​Transfer)​ ​and​ ​Loan​ ​Default rates​ ​for​ ​all​ ​students​ ​and,​ ​specifically,​ ​for​ ​student​ ​veterans.
